Sometimes I wonder why I try to make something more difficult that it has to be. I think it is part of learning.

On Monday, I learned how to recolor a repeat pattern in Illustrator.

Tuesday, I found a shortcut button in Illustrator that helped me with what I was working on. It probably saves me 2 sec. (these add up with as many times as I've been using this) YAY!

If you don't know this about me I am a big fan of new experiences, for the most part. Today I found my new favorite Starbucks. The location is in the middle of this new apartment complex in Irvine. I felt like I was in another country for about fifteen minutes, then I realized I'm still in Irvine. Maybe I was excited because it was morning and that is one of my favorite times being out because it is so quiet and peaceful. I actually wasn't craving coffee this morning but a muffin, Starbucks doesn't have the greatest muffins but I was on my way to work and this Starbucks was on the way. It had so many cozy places to sit and lots of tables, with outlets! I always check at coffee shops so I know if I can bring my computer to do work. They played really good music too, according to my standards of "quality" coffee shop music. I was impressed.

I am enjoying my "little moments" this week.

It has been a while since I've written anything. I find that I don't write much on this blog because I feel like I'm just talking to myself. Which if I were doing, I don't have to go to a computer and sign in so that I can talk to myself. I can do that anytime.

Randomest thought of the day: chattin' chitty. I mixed up the phrase chitty chattin' accidentally and then realized that sounds kinda funny. "chattin' chitty". What's a chitty? Why do we say that? What a wierd phrase.

This is my last semester so I'm enjoying it the best I can before the working world sets in. Looking back over my time in college makes me smile and sigh at the things that I've been through. Things that I've put myself through and things that I've learned. This is pretty general but I have been reflecting a lot on God's faithfulness in my life and how he has taken care of my heart and my life more than I ever imagined. Each moment that I see myself trying to control my life or a situation and give it over to the Lord and what His word promises tends to make my life better than I want. I see that His ways are so much higher than my ways. It is not always easy or clear to follow Christ but it is worth everything that we think we are sacrificing. I think one of the hardest things about following Christ is saying no to ourselves and what we want. At least that is what trips me up.....I'm grateful for grace.

On the design side of things. I love school. I am taking all the classes I wished I could've taken instead of the prerequisites that are no fun. I wish as a freshman in college I could've known at least more of what I like and how to do school better. I wish that I had pursued art more in high school or even more in college. Art is intruiging, challenging and fun but I have always believed that it's not logical, at least not when you have to pay the bills. Be logical, get a real job that will pay money. I considered being a business major, even a psychology major! Yikes! I would be so miserable with my life. My dad gave me the best advice that made me certain that I picked the right major. "Just pick something you really like, you never know if you're going to end up using it after you graduate and then you'll be motivated to go to class." Graphic design could not be more fun for me. It combines a little bit of everything I enjoy doing and wraps it all into one. Can it get any better than that? Well, yes, I suppose because I still need to get a job, hahah. I can enjoy all of the hobbies that fill my time but I end up asking myself "how could I turn this into a job because I really like doing this?"

It has been a while. Life gets busy which usually means I end up neglecting my journal entries. I am interning this summer at a company called EDAW. It has been about three and a half weeks already. They have their own in-house printing which is really interesting. It is an urban design and planning company so they print large maps and drawings. I like learning how they do it in the real world, even if it is different from what they teach us in school.
The one thing that I wish I knew how to do better before I started this internship is InDesign. Liberty only teaches Quark. The company I am at only uses InDesign and I am understanding it for the most part but have definately gotten stuck. One of the most exciting things is fixing your computer problems. Sometimes I just have to leave it and come back the next day for another attempt. I think something changes overnight and suddenly something clicks and I get this new idea and it fixes everything.
Yesterday I just realized that the building where I work in L.A. is still a functioning theatre. They still have shows there and stuff. Which answers the questions that were going through my mind last week when these girls were in sleeping bags on the side of the building when I walked into work. Duh, they were waiting for tickets. I was sort of confused because these girls were just chillin' outside of where I work. Maybe they are homeless, I thought, which is not an uncommon sight in downtown L.A.. They looked pretty well groomed so I knew they weren't homeless. All this to say that I was intrigued to find out that I work in an old theatre which makes the building even more cool.

So I finally have my site up and running with actual content that you can see! Thanks to my friend John and his mad coding skills and his generous heart to help me out. Much thanks!

I hope to write more on this thing. I've been slacking a bit on actually writing.

I have been babysitting for this women's bible study once a week. I've been doing since the beginning of this school year. It is interesting to see these kids every week. How they grow and learn new things. There are babies that are sitting up on their own which becomes so natural that it is wierd to get excited about. I love their innocence. It is like a little taste of heaven being around children so young. Noah: age 4. Paige: age 22...This conversation came up through the course of the morning.

Noah: Have you ever played footsy?
Paige: Uh, how do you play that? (inside thought, "how does he know what this is?")
Noah: Well, it is a game that you play by kicking the other person's feet.
Paige: Oh, cool.

Then, of course, he shows me how to play the game and starts kicking my feet, lol. That's how you play footsy.

Moments like these make me laugh and warm my heart at the complete innocence of them.

<img style="display:block;
